My name is Aleksandra and I just finished my BA in Drama and Performance at the ²ÝÝ®ÉçÇø.

Being an international student and taking a new course in a foreign nation gives you a chance to discover new interests, meet new people, and try new sports. This is the reason the ²ÝÝ®ÉçÇø organises many welcome events you can take part in during your first month of studies. A perfect chance for you to get to know new people and get ready for the upcoming year.

We organise an International Orientation program and a Freshers’ Fayre, no matter if you are an undergraduate, a master or an exchange student, you are welcome to join and discover your new home.

International Orientation Week

Our includes different activities throughout the week. It takes place around the city and on campus from Monday to Friday from 9am to 9pm. To participate you need to grab your tickets (for free) once they are released and come along to the events. Here are some of my favourite events, that I attended every year I was at the University.

Campus and City Tour

We take you outside of university campuses and together we explore your new home. These tours will help you get to know the area quickly and discover more places in our beautiful city.

Afternoon Tea Social

This is the best place to go to if you would like a piece of cake and British tea in a cosy atmosphere. It's a great event where you will meet new students and get to know our International Student Ambassadors.

Speed Friending

We know how important friendships are, so this event is going to help you meet new people who are new to our University, just like you. We put you in a group with other students and give you a list of questions. Your task is to ask the people around you as many questions as you can. You have 5 to 15 minutes to get to know everyone in your group. Then we swap you around in a different group, so you get to know more students.

Karaoke

Doesn't matter if you are a good singer or not, our karaoke event offers a safe space where you can sing, dance and meet students from other courses. We would love to hear more about the culture you come from with a song, potentially you might meet people who have also come from your country or region.

Freshers’ Fayre

takes place at the end of September. It's a two-day event full of activities, many games and sports to try out, free pizza and prizes to win.

You can find out more about the 34 sport clubs and over 100 societies that we have at our University. You will also discover what socials they organise and how to join them.

You will learn about our elected officers, community and volunteering opportunities and our University services that can help you throughout your degree. The event is free to attend, and don't forget to grab your free bag with the university logo at the entrance.

Freshers’ Fayre takes place at Gun House Green and Ravelin Sports Centre. If you are keen on meeting new people with the same interests as you or you would like to try some new hobbies, we would love to see you there.

Make sure you join a society or a sports club and get to know British culture in your first few weeks. So go ahead, take advantage of these events, and have a memorable time at university!
